Should you buy Tasco Galaxsee as your first telescope?
We strongly advise against purchasing the Tasco Galaxsee as a first telescope. Tasco has a reputation for making fraudulent claims and producing cheaply made telescopes unsuitable for serious astronomy. The Galaxsee is considered a toy rather than a legitimate astronomical instrument due to its low-quality optics and limited capabilities. Its small 114mm aperture and short focal length restrict the ability to resolve fine details and observe faint objects. The recommended magnification range is not ideal for most astronomical targets. Astronomers recommend small refractors for beginners instead, as they offer better image quality and are more forgiving to use. Superior alternatives exist in the market at similar price points, providing better construction and features. Investing in a low-quality scope like the Tasco Galaxsee leads to frustration, limits the viewing experience, and may discourage further pursuit of astronomy.
Is Tasco Galaxsee 114 easy to use?
The Tasco Galaxsee 114 is easy to use for beginners. Setup is straightforward with pictorial instructions for quick assembly. The telescope features a solid equatorial mount for stable observations. A red dot finder helps users align with target objects. Two eyepieces (10mm and 20mm) deliver sharp images of celestial bodies. The 20mm eyepiece provides a wider field view for locating objects. The reflector design and manual mount are ideal for budget-conscious beginners. Smooth motion allows for tracking celestial objects. The rack-and-pinion focuser enables precise focusing. The telescope’s aperture ratio and focal ratio balance image brightness and resolution.
Should you buy Galaxsee 114Mm Reflector Telescope for kids?
The Galaxsee 114mm Reflector Telescope is a suitable purchase for kids interested in astronomy. Its 114mm aperture provides moderate light-gathering capacity, allowing good views of the moon and planets. The telescope comes with 10mm and 20mm eyepieces, offering a decent range of magnification. The telescope’s size and weight are manageable for children, making setup and use easier. Galaxsee 114mm performs better for higher magnification observations rather than wide-field views. The telescope serves as a good introduction to astronomy for well-behaved children, though realistic expectations are essential. Tasco’s reputation and performance claims require consideration, as some have been questioned in the past. The telescope offers a balance of price and performance compared to other cheap telescopes, making it a reasonable choice for astronomy-interested kids with proper supervision and guidance.

Should you buy Tasco Galaxsee 114Mm to observe planets?
The Tasco Galaxsee 114mm telescope is a suitable choice for observing planets. It provides good views of Jupiter’s cloud bands, Saturn’s rings, and the moons of both planets. The telescope reveals surface details on Mars and Venus, though not as sharply as higher-end models. Its 114mm aperture and 450mm focal length allow for magnification up to 228x with the included 10mm and 20mm eyepieces. The parabolic glass mirror enhances image quality. Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, Saturn’s ring system, Venus’ phases, and Mars’ polar ice caps are visible through this telescope. The manual equatorial mount requires adjustment to track celestial objects. Beginners on a budget will find the Tasco Galaxsee 114mm an exciting introduction to planetary observation. Advanced observers seeking finer details should consider larger aperture alternatives with better optics and tracking systems.
Should you buy Tasco Galaxsee Reflector Telescope to observe galaxies?
The Tasco Galaxsee Reflector Telescope is not recommended for observing galaxies. Tasco has a reputation for producing cheap quality telescopes with limited performance for deep sky objects. The Galaxsee’s 114mm aperture is relatively small, restricting its light gathering ability for dim objects like distant galaxies. Its magnification tops out at 228x, which is insufficient for resolving faint galactic details. Galaxy observation requires telescopes with larger apertures, better light gathering capabilities, and wide field scopes. Visual telescopes designed specifically for deep sky observing are better suited for this purpose. The Tasco Galaxsee serves well as an affordable beginner telescope for viewing the Moon and planets, but serious galaxy observers should invest in more capable instruments with stronger performance claims for deep sky objects.
Should you buy Tasco Galaxsee 114Mm for astrophotography?
The Tasco Galaxsee 114mm telescope is not recommended for astrophotography. Its 114mm aperture and f/3.95 focal ratio are inadequate for capturing high-quality images of deep-sky objects. Images produced with this telescope appear dim and unsharp, especially for wide-field views of nebulae or galaxies. The telescope’s resolution limit of 1.02 arcseconds is insufficient for detailed astrophotography. Astrophotography requires larger apertures, longer focal lengths, and superior optical quality. The Tasco Galaxsee 114mm is better suited for visual observations of the Moon, planets, and bright deep-sky objects. Advanced telescopes with better optics are necessary for deep-sky work and astrophotography.
Is Galaxsee Reflector Telescope portable?
The Galaxsee Reflector Telescope is moderately portable. The telescope weighs 22lbs and measures 43″x13″x7″, allowing for relatively easy transportation and storage. Its design is suitable for family education and outdoor activities like backyard stargazing or camping trips. The telescope does not come with a carrying bag, which may hinder transportation. The Galaxsee Reflector Telescope is not ideal for hiking or backpacking due to its size and weight. Users will find it manageable for local use and casual astronomy, but less suitable for long-distance travel or extreme outdoor adventures.

Vemund –
The Galaxsee Reflector Telescope has moderate image quality. Tasco’s 114mm Galaxsee Telescope allowed me to see details of the moon’s craters and even some nearby planets. Setting up was easy thanks to friendly, straightforward instructions. Assembly was quick, and I started using the telescope right away. Image clarity is decent – not razor-sharp, but clear enough to explore the night sky. One minor issue is the somewhat flimsy tripod. Despite that, the Galaxsee Newtonian Reflector Telescope has been a powerful tool for stargazing.
Michael Kelly –
Tasco’s Galaxsee 114 performs well for close-up views of the moon. Craters and other lunar features appear bright and clear through the eyepiece. Far distant stars and planets are visible, though not as sharp as I’d hoped. The altazimuth mount is somewhat shaky, making it tricky to keep objects in focus.
Logan –
The Galaxsee reflector telescope has a well-built, sturdy construction. Tasco’s 114mm Galaxsee telescope features a smooth altazimuth mount, making it easy to maneuver. Optical quality is great, producing sharp images of the moon and planets. Craters on the moon were visible with ease. Saturn’s rings were a treat to behold.
rgallegos –
The Galaxsee Reflector Telescope is portable, which initially appealed to me. Tasco’s 114mm Galaxsee Telescope has some pros and cons I must be honest about. The narrow field of view immediately caught my attention. Observing larger celestial objects became difficult due to this limitation. Occasionally, I managed to get spectacular views. The moon’s craters and mountains appeared with great clarity – a real treat for any sky enthusiast. Instructions were unclear for a layman like me. Figuring out proper usage took a while. The included tripod is terrible. I ended up using a different one for stability. Better telescopes are available on the market.

Tasco’s 114mm Galaxsee telescope produces terrible image quality. Views of the moon and planets are always blurry and unclear. Magnification is not as good as expected when trying to get close to objects. The tripod is unstable, making it difficult to get a clear view. I’ve tried using the Galaxsee 4.5″ reflector telescope in various locations with the same poor results. Never been able to get a good view of anything.
smithpatrick –
It’s been a great addition to my backyard stargazing setup. The views are spectacular when I get the focus right. I’ve observed the night sky for longer periods than expected. Clear views of the moon and near planets were achievable after some adjustments.
turnercatherine –
I’ve used it on several clear nights, getting close views of the moon and planets. Image quality is good, with crisp details and minimal distortion. The Orion Nebula view impressed me spectacularly. Galaxsee is a different beast compared to other telescopes in its class. It’s huge, with a large aperture letting in plenty of light.
